Café culture has undeniably played a huge role in enabling the art of radical innovation. One opportunity that quickly becomes evident lies in the unfettered creative mind's ability to repurpose words as descriptions of a whole new way of thinking and being. ‘Fusion’ is one such word that has become a metaphor allowing access to a different way of thinking about innovation.

Until recently, business – by comparison – appears to have a very limited grasp of the potential of fusion as either metaphor or process. This is evidenced by the fact that the dominant use of the word is limited to a plethora of worthy ‘fusion’ theory that focuses entirely on the need for more integration of IT into business management thinking and doing.
