Emerging markets have been on the investment scene for 30 years and while they have been regarded unfavourably by investors at times, the good news is that the available investments have expanded dramatically during this period. Taking just one example of this, the MSCI Emerging Market Index in 1988 comprised of a handful of stocks from a total of eight countries.
