Using Technology to Make More Digital Content Available to All

The future of higher education libraries will include taking a much more active part in helping their institution to navigate through the difficulty of rights clearance, in order that they can publish content with as open a licence as is possible whilst conforming with the institution’s risk appetite. Traditionally the response to this issue has been to actively choose not to engage with it, meaning that access to various ‘difficult’ online tranches of content remains closed and their rights status is essentially deemed to be unquantifiable.
