Appendix: References and Resources

The following resources and references may be helpful to those who plan to implement the guidance found throughout the book. The references are arranged by general topic and include links to templates, sample policies, and other useful documents. Most are freely available online, although some may require users to create a free or paid account, and several provide periodic email updates to those who register. The resources include templates that are referred to in various chapters.

All are current as of the writing of this book (2024), but be sure to check for updated versions. Care should be taken to verify any information, especially that provided by for‐profit organizations serving the social sector and anything sourced from a broad community of contributors (e.g., Wikipedia, Investopedia). The resources cited in this section are generally understood to be credible sources for information about endowments, fundraising, governance, and other nonprofit management topics. They do not replace the need for guidance from accredited legal, accounting, and financial advisors.
