31. SHOOT THROUGH EVERYTHING
SPEAKING OF COMPOSING a portrait with foreground structure, one way to break away from the norm is to literally shoot through the structure. Before we dive too much into this, I’ll mention that shooting through a foreground structure will not necessarily make for a great portrait. The structure must have a level of transparency or actual gaps to ensure the portrait subject is visible. However, when you can include structures that allow the subject to be seen, it can provide a creative compositional boost to your images.
