THOUGH PHOTOGRAPHY IS very much a hands-on activity, there can be all kinds of reasons why “getting the shot” might sometimes mean letting go of the camera.
In landscape and night/low-light photography, letting go of the camera and mounting it on a tripod makes certain kinds of shots (like long exposures) possible.
Even if you think you’re not someone who’s into experimenting with night photography or long exposures, there are still reasons you might want to invest in a tripod or other camera mount.
