38. ADDING TO AND REMOVING PORTIONS OF LAYER MASKS

WHILE A LAYER mask is an extremely powerful component for making a cool Photoshop composite, it is also important that you understand the finesse that’s required to make pieces fit together inside of a Photoshop document. This has everything to do with the use of brushes.

In the previous lesson, I added an extra headlight to the truck. But if I hide the bottom layer (in this case, Layer 0), you’ll notice that on the masked layer (Layer 0 copy) there are some extra elements around the headlight that the mask doesn’t quite cover—a little bit of background is still visible (Figure 38.1).
