Video surveillance has emerged as one of the most active application-oriented research topics in image analysis and processing. The growing level of uncertain security in our world, along with cheaper and more “intelligent” digital camera technology is spurring great interest in developing video-based systems capable of observing and interpreting specific scenes, with the aim of detecting anomalies or events that may affect the safety, security, economics, or other vital aspect of human activity.
