SATA Applications
SATA forever altered the HDD landscape and penetrated market areas for which it was never intended,
again due to the low cost per gigabyte that it offers. SATA applications might include local low-latency
warm storage, staging of back-up data prior to committing to tape, hierarchical storage management
(HSM), and utility storage for non-mission critical data.
Figure 1.7 demonstrates basic access patterns relative to the amount of storage capacity required for
