1.6 SATA Applications—More than Disk Storage
SATA has become a family of various form factors and connector alternatives that serve many different
application requirements. Although SATA mainly started as a disk interface, it has grown to encom-
pass many applications that require some type of storage, whether it be solid state or disk based (see
Figure1.15). Most of these additional connectivity alternatives were specifically designed to accom-
modate flash and SSD technology.
