Coping with unexpected surges of grief

The grief journey is a winding road that starts with the foreknowledge of a death, or the actual death itself. The journey may meander through a dark forest of despair. You may pause in isolated spots for a while. Sometimes you’ll walk alone; other times you may have company. Whether you trudge, walk, or run won’t make any difference to how long it takes you to make the journey. You may feel as if you’ll never emerge from the dark forest. But eventually, you’ll step out of the trees and feel the sun upon your face.
