24 Chain-Growth Polycondensation

Chain-growth polycondensation (CGP) is a kind of polycondensation that proceeds in a chain polymerization manner. The first reports of the living CGP concept came from the labs of Yokozawa and McCullough in 2004.

The main concept behind converting a step-growth process to chain growth is ensuring that the monomer preferentially reacts at the growing end of the polymer chain, as opposed to a random processes, where all functional groups have an equal probability to react with one another.
