YOU MAY CURRENTLY be homeless, but despite how it may feel, you are not helpless, invisible, or alone. The number of homeless children hit a record high in 2014, when more than 1.36 million homeless children were enrolled in public schools from kindergarten through 12th grade.1 That’s nearly 2.5 percent of the 55 million school-age children in the United States, or one out of every 50 children.2 Of those 1.36 million, 88,966 of them were unaccompanied, or did not have a parent or guardian taking care of them.
