Radio-controlled Flash

If you want your flashes to be guaranteed to fire every time you push the shutter—without the line-of-sight issue of E-TTL or CLS—then radio triggers are by far the best option.

The most popular of these are made by Pocket Wizard. They have their own certified radio channel, with a range of up to a mile and they can even be configured to remotely fire your camera. They are used by the majority of professionals around the world, and work on AA batteries. They’re not the smallest, but they are rugged.

Lots of other manufacturers also make their own radio triggers, from reputable companies like Elinchrom with their Skyport system, right the way down to no-name triggers, which can be bought very cheaply on sites such as eBay. ...
