Academic Library Instruction


Instruction about the use of library resources is a relatively new endeavor. Academic librarians have developed a variety of methods to conduct instruction for the benefit of the patrons of academic libraries. Throughout the brief history of academic library instruction, the type of instruction conducted has been transformed into what it is today, and it will undoubtedly continue to change in the future as the needs of academic library patrons change. Despite this transformation, one-shot library instruction is still a fixture in academic libraries, and its very unique characteristics have led to a number of challenges and opportunities when working with faculty and students.
