The idea was not to ignore these other businesses; rather, it was to
recognize that their success would be driven in large part by Disney’s
ability to create blockbuster movies (see Figure 4.3) that would then
provide the characters for the theme parks and consumer products.
Value drivers differ from rm to rm, but the fact remains that strategy
must be anchored by them. The color of the value driver determines
the color of the strategy. It is the company’s core competence that deter-
mines the color of the rm’s value driver (see Figure 4.4).
