The funding of basic research and public–private partnerships

Abstract:

This chapter examines the funding of basic research primarily by government entities in the U.S. and abroad. It describes the technology transfer process that occurs at universities. Additionally, it looks at the theoretical and practical reasons for the development of bio-clusters in certain regions. Finally, it addresses the diffusion of biopharmaceutical innovations beyond these bio-clusters.
