WHILE THE WORDS in this book are ours, many of the ideas and experiences come from others to whom we acknowledge a tremendous debt of gratitude and appreciation. First and foremost among these is Jack Welch, former CEO of GE and the original initiator and driver of the Work-Out process. Much of this book, and indeed much of our collective thinking, has been influenced by Jack’s leadership of GE and unwavering pursuit of higher performance through a belief that people can do extraordinary things.
