14 DELEGATION AND OTHER LEADERSHIP SKILLS

Here we focus on delegation in the context of other leadership and management skills and examine where delegation fits in the management toolkit.

The reason why I focus so obsessively on delegation is because I so fundamentally believe that delegation is a fulcrum skill in the management toolkit.

You see, if you meet, know or get to work with someone who is acknowledged to be a good delegator then it is highly unlikely that they are lacking other leadership pre-requisites.1 A good delegator will be a strategist with a formidable range of skills, including leadership, planning, negotiation, communication as well as an astute commercial awareness.
