If I’ve learned one thing in my advocacy career, it’s that you’ll get farther if you are a good listener rather than a good talker. “Listening well” doesn’t mean you have an uncanny sense of hearing, or that you can understand a foreign language or two. It refers to being actively aware during a conversation so that you can intellectually process what the other person is saying.
