Few of us manufacture our own glass; fortunately, art glass is readily available in many forms—sheets, rods, canes, and frit—as well as in a rainbow of colors and textures.

You’re probably most familiar with common sheet glass, also called float. This is the type of glass used to make windows—it’s flat, smooth, and colorless. Not all sheet glass is the same. Art glass is available in many colors, and the manufacturing process can add air bubbles, ribbons of different colors, and textures.
