Sun-Dried Tomato, Olive, and Basil Beer Bread

Planning an afternoon tea? This bread is a great vehicle for cream cheese sandwiches. It’s also nice to serve with a pasta meal, in place of bread sticks or Italian bread.

3½ cups (438 g) all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 large egg, lightly beaten

1 can or bottle (12 ounces, or 355 ml) light-colored lager

½ cup (25 g) sun-dried tomatoes, packed (reserve 1 tablespoon, or 15 ml oil)

1 tablespoon (5 g) fresh minced basil, or 1 teaspoon dried
