3. GREEN INDICES & ETFS

There are a growing number of specialised indices tracking the performance of companies in environmental technologies. Indices are used extensively by a range of investors such as researchers, fund managers, brokers and so forth for analysis, the measurement of performance, asset allocation, portfolio hedging and so forth. For individual investors they can be useful for researching specific sectors or companies in particular countries. More pertinently, indices are used for the creation of passively managed funds such as trackers and ETFs.
