Chapter 23

Thru-Tubing Fishing

Fishing with coiled tubing requires extensive preplanning that involves all participating personnel, including the operator, representatives from the service companies, and representatives from the fishing- tool company. It is advisable to review service reports and consult with personnel who have been involved in previous fishing operations. A thorough analysis of the well’s history and events leading to the need for a fishing operation will save time on determining the location and equipment requirements. Detailed information should include (but are not limited to) the following:

High-pressure packoff

Hydraulic-release spears

Internal fishing necks

Nitrogen equipment

Pumping equipment
