Chapter 33

Down-hole Video Cameras

Abstract

The introduction of down-hole video cameras (DHVs) in both memory and live feed has given the fishing tool operator a whole new look into the operation of fishing. A wide range of cameras can be deployed on e-line, slick line, coil tubing, and drill pipe; these devices use state-of-the-art video, lighting, and communications technology. Cameras are rated to operate at temperatures up to 257°F and 15,000 psi with 1 11/16" OD in diameter. Some cameras can even work at temperatures of up to 350°F and pressures of up to 22,500 psi, but very few are available globally today.
