IMPROVING LARGE OR COMPLEX SYSTEMS
The approach to improving large systems builds on the methods to develop, test, implement and spread changes presented in previous chapters. Although projects focused on large or complex systems can use the Model for Improvement as a framework, successful large system improvement usually requires more sophisticated use of the model and more advanced methods. It is beyond the scope of this book to give an exhaustive treatment of the methods associated with improving these types of systems. The intent of this chapter is to give the reader an introduction to methods and approaches to improving larger and more complex systems and to point the way for further personal study.
