10Don't Retire Yet
I want to retire early. No seriously, that's why I have 10 side hustles (ha)! And who wouldn't want to retire early? You probably want to retire early, too! However, as it relates to DEI, we simply can't just yet! I believe you will retire eventually, but it requires you not to retire yet. Instead, I want to encourage you to take all the knowledge and skills you gained through reading this book, and start really thinking about the places in which you notice similar gaps that could be solved by leveraging similar solutions. From learning how to build comprehensively supportive employee life cycles, to developing meaningful internal and external learning and development opportunities, to sponsoring ERSGs that can power and solidify powerful and inclusive practices—you now have the power to change the way your organization prioritizes, uses, and embeds a DEI framework.
Now, it's your turn! I want you to fill in the commitment petition at the end of this chapter that states you will not retire from DEI work yet, take a photo, tag me (Netta Jenkins), and post it on LinkedIn. Let's create a movement together to ignite more folks to take action! What's even better is that you won't need to do it alone. Use what you've learned to fire up those around you so that you can come together and multiply your impact. However, I do recommend you make your life a little easier and just recommend this book to each of your colleagues so they can explore it for themselves.
