About the Authors

Barry Boehm developed a conceptual version of the spiral model at TRW in 1978, but only in 1981 was he able to employ it successfully, leading the development of a corporate TRW software development environment. Since the formal publication of this model in 1988, he and his colleagues have devoted extensive efforts to clarifying and evolving it through several intermediate versions into the ICSM.
