5. Implementing the Startup Corporation

THE STARTUP CORPORATION does not have one set design, and its structure does not necessarily mimic that of a startup. While in some cases it does look like a traditional startup—such as Medwinds and Android when they began—often multiple connections to the network of the parent company exist behind the scenes. Each design is adapted to the innovation strategy, industry, resources, and size of its company. Every Startup Corporation is a unique combination of management solutions with a different emphasis on market (external) forces, company (internal) forces, open networks, and internal resources.
