1 Comparative Perceptions of Executive Deviance

This chapter empirically evaluates how deviance in the form of white-collar crime can be understood, presenting original research undertaken by the authors in India, Iran, Norway, and the United States that explored conceptions of understanding in cases of executive deviance. While business compliance and conformance is often the main operational issue for many companies, it does not help to argue for and claim business compliance and conformance if lack of compliance and conformance is not fully understood. Here, it is argued that it is important to understand and identify a negative phenomenon to be able to avoid it.
