14. Smart World: The Global Internet of Everything

After we get done connecting our appliances, lights, houses, cars, streets, and cities to the Internet of Things (IoT), what do we end up with? The global IoT, of course, where devices are connected to other devices and systems located anywhere in the world. Just as the current Internet has few state or national boundaries, so shall the IoT be unfettered by those little dotted lines that mere mortals like to draw on maps. The devices in your home or car don’t care where other devices are located; they’ll connect to whatever, wherever is needed.
