Visibility of special librarians and special libraries

Abstract

Five librarians working in specialist roles are interviewed. Three are based in Ireland, one in the United States and one in New Zealand. The job titles of the librarians are varied and include information scientist, research officer, information technology (IT) librarian/knowledge management consultant, legal information manager and corporate librarian. The information scientist works in a statutory organisation and the research officer works in the Royal College of Surgeons. The IT librarian works at a court law library.
