On Creating a Positive Culture

Every day when Sammy came into the office, he passed through the lobby where the corporate logo hung, and next to it was the mission statement: “To provide the best consulting advice to our client-partners. Our Values: Respect, Integrity, and Innovation.”

Today, when he got into his office, he asked Mary, “Do you know what the company mission statement is?”

She looked at him with a curious look, then an embarrassed glance, and said, “Something about helping clients?”

“Close. How about the company values?”

“What?”

“Our company values.”

“Yeah…,” she said, then paused. “Respect?” She paused again, and then said, “I guess not really.”

“Thanks. Is George in?”
