The number of pages in each of the first 28 chapters can be found in Appendix 5. Figure A6-1 plots the chapter number against both the number of pages (lower section) and the percentage change in the number of pages (upper section). At first glance the pattern appears somewhat random, but the underlying order comes into focus both when the lower part of the diagram is compared with Figure 10-1 of Chapter 10, and when the upper part of the diagram is split into three equal sections.
