How to be credible and connect using your voice

Exercise

Take a moment to record your voice and then play it back. As you listen to the recording, what, specifically, do you notice about your voice: its tone, volume, pace, etc.? Try to be objective – what works and what would you like to change in your voice?

Not many of us like the sound of our own voices. Indeed, when we train leaders it is very rare that leaders like the sound of their own voice when they hear themselves on a video playback. To be an effective speaker you need to be heard, to be understood and to have variety in your voice. Your voice is a critical tool that underpins your effectiveness as a speaker.
