Set the Context for Your Transition

A transition is an exciting period when you get to frame new goals and a go-forward agenda for yourself, your team, and the company. Before getting to specific priorities and initiatives in this agenda, it is useful to frame your broad objectives and vision and align them with those of your primary stakeholders. This sets the context for driving toward more specific goals. I like to undertake this framing in five key steps:

1.   Frame broad hopes for your organization, your team, and yourself in this new role.
