In today's world, change is the new norm. Change occurs when something is made different from its past state. Formally, change can be defined as, ‘To make the form, nature, content, future course, etc., of (something) different from what it is or from what it would be if left alone.’ (1) The reality is that change involves risk. The greater the change, the higher the risk.

There are several types of change worth considering. The first is incremental change. Here, change occurs slowly over time. This incremental nature of change allows leaders and their organizations to prepare for and mitigate risks. Thus, risk is lower.
