Web-based communication is an important aspect of academic life. Most users are probably familiar with email, but might have trouble managing it, as more and more communication has been pushed to email. However, there are other ways for users to communicate. This chapter will explore some of those tools, which include instant messaging services, such as those provided by AOL, Google, Yahoo!, Facebook, and Microsoft.
