Abstract:

The sharing of work has typically been a significant part of an academic life and career. Traditionally, sharing has meant formal outlets, such as peer-reviewed articles and conference presentations. However, there are other ways for work to be shared, using less formal channels. While these new channels might not be taken into consideration during the promotion and reappointment process, they still provide ways for academics to reach a broader audience and to hear feedback on their work that they might not receive in more formal sharing channels.
