Chapter C. Working with Data in the Query Builder

Often the data tables you have are not exactly what you want. You may need to compute a new column based on existing columns, or you may need just part of the data table for your analysis. Using SAS Enterprise Guide, there are many ways in which you can manipulate your data. This tutorial covers the following topics in the Query Builder:

  • Selecting columns

  • Using the Expression Editor to create new columns

  • Filtering rows

  • Sorting data

Before beginning this tutorial

This tutorial uses the Volcanoes SAS data table, which contains information about volcanoes around the world. The data and instructions for downloading the file can be found in Appendix A.
