The ethical dimension
Before the last few decades, the phrase business ethics was rare. Few people worried about managing a business ethically. Of course, there always were individuals and commercial enterprises that took clear moral stances in their work – running organisations ethically and fairly. But they were a small group of pioneers. There was no widespread acceptance of the need for ethical business practices. Fortunately, this has changed. The pressures of society and regulations to run a business ethically grow all the time. In any modern company, it is ethics as well as commercialism that influences decisions and actions. Management consulting is no exception.
