that shape an individual. Business values are influenced by the beliefs
of the founders and come to be silently practiced as part of the orga-
nization’s corporate culture. Business values are thus much related to
what, based on the experience of the organization (its so-called insti-
tutional memory), are regarded as good and bad business practices.
There is a difference between espoused values (what we say is
good or bad) and values in use (what we actually do). Individuals and
organizational leaders may say one thing and do another. Hence,
not all values guide practice.
