Recruitment is the process of sourcing as many well-qualified
individuals as possible to fill a vacancy or a job in an organization.
Recruitment may be carried out to meet an immediate need—such
as filling a specific vacancy—or carried out to reduce the time it
takes to fill any position by maintaining standing lists of possible
applicants to examine whenever vacancies occur.
Selection is the process of identifying the best-qualified indi-
