HOW CORRECTIVE ACTION SHOULD
BE CARRIED OUT
Before you apply corrective action to any worker, you should ask
yourself seven important questions.
1. Was the employee warned in advance of the likely consequence
of breaking a rule or otherwise failing to comply with company
expectations? (Is there evidence that workers know a rule exists
and what might happen if they break it?)
2. Is the rule or company expectation related to the reasonable con-
duct of the business? (In other words, is it really necessary?)
