What is the right “welcome” message to send to newly hired Gen-Xers?

Let’s say you have recruited the right people and are now ready to conduct an orientation program with them. What approach should you take? In general, the answer is the realistic approach. It is no longer credible to say “welcome to the family” as if new employees can expect to be part of the company for the rest of their lives. Remember that most of your new hires know that the only kind of career security they are ever going to achieve is the kind they create from within themselves.
