OSHA-OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY ACT OF 1970

This act was passed to ensure a safe working environment for all employees. It requires all employers with more than one employee to police working conditions for compliance with mandated safety standards. It is not at all uncommon for OSHA agents to visit a work site unannounced to observe safety practices for compliance. Those found negligent are subject to fines and/or penalities.
