Communications. Effective management starts here. The ability to understand and to be understood cannot be overemphasized and it is not easy. It is also an imperative to sound employee relations. It will drive every activity and correctly direct and guide, or unfortunately misinform. What we must avoid, as was said to Paul Newman in Cool Hand Luke, is this statement: “What we have here is a failure to communicate.”
