Team survey instruments allow you to do two things: (1) examine the skills of the management team, and (2) measure the satisfaction of employee teams. If you concentrate on addressing one problem without the other, you may be dooming yourself to failure. No amount of supervisory skill can overcome a group’s inner dissatisfaction with itself, and no amount of group harmony will overcome a manager not in tune with his or her group.
The survey process itself consists of five phases. Each phase will add clarification and provide direction to management and employees regarding the ultimate goal of issue resolution.
