When DJO Global (DJO) began to bring Lean inking into its R & D
labs in 2003, Lean Product Development was in its infancy. ere was
not much in the way of external examples to guide them. e books that
laid the theoretical framework for Lean Product Development had not
yet been published, and Lean Product Developers still suered from the
inappropriate use of Lean Manufacturing tools in product development
processes. DJO’s engineers would need to build their own model because
there was no model to follow.
