Why Study Finance?

Unless you work for a government agency or a non-profit, the organization you work for will have at least one owner, or several (called shareholders), who invested in the company and expect a return on their investment. Even government agencies and non-profits have to manage budgets and use their funds responsibly. Finance is all about the fiscal structure of an organization and how the organization receives, invests, and spends its funds. It is closely aligned to accounting, but differs from it in that accounting is about the tracking and reporting of where funds have been spent.
